Steady dental search at a controlled cost
Ali Ahmad Dental Care is a dental practice competing in a market where the large clinics outspend the independents comfortably. The brief was not to win on budget, which was never going to happen, but to make a modest budget behave predictably.
The situation at the start
Outspent, so it had to be out-structured.
An independent practice bidding against multi-site clinics loses any contest decided by budget. What it can win is efficiency: a lower cost per click, a higher click-through rate, and less spend leaking into searches that were never going to become patients.
That means accepting a narrower footprint. Rather than appearing for every dental term, the account was built to appear consistently for the smaller set of searches the practice could actually convert.

The approach
Four workstreams,
one engine.
Each stream existed to make the others measurable. Nothing here was run in isolation.
Fewer terms, held properly
Presence on the searches that convert beats visibility everywhere.
- Keyword set limited to services the practice actively wants
- High-cost, low-intent terms deliberately excluded
- Budget concentrated rather than spread thin
- Position stability prioritised over reach
Protect the cost per click
With a modest budget, the click price decides the volume.
- Average cost per click held at Rs 124
- Quality signals improved to reduce the price of position
- Bids reviewed against actual enquiry patterns
- Spend paced to avoid mid-month exhaustion
Earn the click
Click-through rate is the cheapest lever available.
- Ad copy written per service rather than per practice
- Extensions used to answer questions before the click
- Landing destinations matched to the ad
- Variants tested and retired continuously
Sixteen months of small corrections
Modest accounts fail from neglect more than from strategy.
- Search term reports reviewed on an ongoing basis
- Negatives extended as new waste appeared
- Structure kept simple enough to maintain
- Performance reviewed against contact, not impressions
The results
A small budget that behaves predictably.
The account delivered 3.83K clicks from 47K impressions at a click-through rate of 8.1% and an average cost per click of Rs 124, sustained across sixteen months.
The deliberate choice here was a narrow keyword footprint. Rather than competing for visibility across the whole category against far larger budgets, the account holds consistent presence on the smaller set of searches this practice can convert.

Key takeaways
What made
the difference.
- 1You cannot out-spend, so out-structure
An independent practice wins on efficiency and focus, never on budget.
- 2A narrow footprint held well beats a wide one held badly
Consistent presence on convertible searches produces more patients than thin visibility everywhere.
- 3Pace the budget
A modest account that exhausts mid-month is invisible for the rest of it.
- 4Small accounts die of neglect
Sixteen months of small corrections is what keeps a limited budget productive.
