Clinic build · Rehabilitation and physiotherapy
A clinic site built around one action: book now
Benchmark Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Centre treats musculoskeletal, neurological and post-operative conditions. Physiotherapy demand is almost always urgent and almost always local: someone is in pain now and wants the nearest clinic that can see them soon.
The situation at the start
Urgent, local, and decided in under a minute.
A physiotherapy visitor is rarely browsing. They are in discomfort, they are searching on a phone, and they are deciding between two or three clinics in a couple of minutes. The site has seconds to answer three questions: do you treat my problem, are you near me, and how soon can I be seen.
Anything that delays those answers costs the appointment, because the next clinic in the results is one tap away.
Scope agreed at project kickoff; delivered site verified at handover.
The approach
Four workstreams,
one engine.
Each stream existed to make the others measurable. Nothing here was run in isolation.
Everything points at booking
A site with five equal calls to action has none.
- Book Appointment as the persistent primary button
- Phone contact given equal weight for urgent cases
- Secondary paths kept visually subordinate
- No step between deciding and starting the booking
Answer 'do you treat my problem'
Visitors search by their condition, not by your department names.
- Individual pages for the treatments the clinic actually provides
- Written in patient language rather than clinical shorthand
- Each page able to capture its own search demand
- Clear onward path from every treatment into booking
Show the clinic, not a stock photo
Physical premises are a credibility signal in local healthcare.
- Real facility photography rather than generic imagery
- Location and access details made prominent
- Near-me phrasing reflected in headings and page structure
- Practitioner and clinic credibility surfaced early
Fast, accessible, structured
The technical layer supports the local search this clinic depends on.
- Mobile-first responsive build with large tap targets
- MedicalClinic and Service structured data
- Semantic headings and accessible contrast throughout
- Lightweight pages that load quickly on mobile data
The results
A site that gets out of the way of the appointment.
The delivered site treats booking as the only primary action. It stays visible as the visitor scrolls, with phone contact given equal prominence for the cases where someone would rather call than fill in a form.
Treatments were separated into individual pages written in patient language, so someone searching for their specific condition lands on a page that names it, rather than a combined services list that names none of them.

Key takeaways
What made
the difference.
- 1Urgent categories need one action, not five
Every additional equally-weighted call to action reduces the chance the visitor takes any of them.
- 2Patients search by condition, not by department
Treatment pages written in the words patients use are what connect the search to the clinic.
- 3Show the real premises
In local healthcare, a photograph of the actual clinic outperforms any stock image as a trust signal.
- 4Assume a phone, on mobile data, in discomfort
That is the real usage context, and designing for it is what makes the rest work.
