Doubling organic reach in a market owned by resellers
Hopkicks is a footwear and sneaker retailer selling into Pakistan with growing reach in the United States and United Kingdom. The brief was not a rescue, it was a ceiling: a store with real demand that had plateaued because its organic footprint was almost entirely branded.
The situation at the start
A brand people knew, and a catalogue Google did not.
In November 2023 the store was doing 16,763 organic visits a month, and most of that was people typing the brand name. The category pages that should have captured people searching for a model, a size or a price bracket were competing against international resellers with far more authority, and losing quietly.
The opportunity was that demand clearly existed. It was being routed to marketplaces instead of to the store, because the store had no page that deserved to win those searches.

The approach
Four workstreams,
one engine.
Each stream existed to make the others measurable. Nothing here was run in isolation.
Finding the ceiling
Before writing anything we established why the plateau existed.
- Full crawl and index audit across the catalogue
- Branded versus non-branded traffic split established as the north star
- Competitor gap analysis against resellers and marketplaces
- Priority set by commercial value, not search volume
Pages that deserve to rank
Category and product templates were rebuilt to be genuinely useful.
- Unique category copy covering fit, sizing and use case
- Product schema, availability and pricing signals corrected
- Faceted navigation controlled so crawl budget went to real pages
- Internal linking built from guides into commercial categories
Content for people who do not know you
The whole programme was aimed at the searches that create new customers.
- Model, size and comparison content mapped to real query data
- Buying guides targeting the research stage of the purchase
- Question content built for snippets and AI answers
- Seasonal and release-led publishing calendar
Two more markets, no cannibalisation
Once the home market was compounding we opened the US and UK carefully.
- Market-appropriate targeting without duplicating the catalogue
- Currency, shipping and availability signals per market
- Separate tracking so each market could be judged on its own
- US grew to 1.1K keywords and the UK to 186
The results
The plateau broke, and it broke in the right place.
Organic traffic grew from 16,763 to 31,424 monthly visits, an increase of 87% over the engagement. The keyword footprint in the primary market went from roughly six hundred terms to 2,000, and total ranking terms including SERP features reached three thousand.
The number that matters commercially is the split: 22.1K of that traffic is non-branded, around 70% of the total. The store is no longer dependent on people already knowing the name. The equivalent paid value of that organic traffic is roughly $1,400 a month, and unlike ad spend it does not stop when the budget does.

Key takeaways
What made
the difference.
- 1Plateaus are structural, not editorial
The store did not need more content, it needed pages that deserved to rank. Fixing architecture unlocked eighteen months of compounding.
- 2Non-branded is the only growth that scales
Branded traffic follows marketing spend. Taking non-branded to 70% of the total is what made organic a real acquisition channel.
- 3Expand only after the home market compounds
US and UK were opened after the primary market was proven, which is why neither cannibalised the other.
- 4Organic traffic has a price tag
Framing the result as $1.4K a month of equivalent paid media made the value legible to people who do not read Search Console.
