Ecommerce SEO · Pharmacy and wellness retail
A pharmacy storefront that grew 923% in online sales
Shaheen Chemist sells pharmacy, wellness and personal care lines through a Shopify storefront. We rebuilt the organic foundation of the catalogue, then connected it to commerce so growth in rankings showed up as growth in orders rather than as a chart nobody could act on.
The situation at the start
Ranked for its own name, invisible for everything else.
The store had a healthy brand presence and almost no non-branded reach. People who already knew the pharmacy could find it; the far larger group searching for the products it stocked could not. Category and product pages were thin, near-duplicate and largely unindexed, so the catalogue was invisible in exactly the searches that produce first-time customers.
The commercial problem was that every new order had to be bought, through ads or footfall, because organic contributed almost nothing at the top of the funnel.

The approach
Four workstreams,
one engine.
Each stream existed to make the others measurable. Nothing here was run in isolation.
Catalogue architecture rebuilt
We restructured the store so every commercial category had one strong, indexable destination.
- Collection and product templates rewritten for unique, useful copy
- Duplicate and near-duplicate variants consolidated with canonicals
- Product and Breadcrumb structured data across the catalogue
- Internal linking from categories into the products that convert
Content built around what people actually search
We mapped the searches customers use before they know the brand and built for those.
- Keyword and intent mapping across pharmacy, wellness and personal care
- Buying guides and comparison content feeding category pages
- Question-led content targeting featured snippets and AI answers
- A publishing cadence tied to seasonal demand
Turning sessions into orders
Rankings only matter if the storefront converts, so CRO ran alongside SEO.
- Checkout and product page friction removed
- Trust, stock and delivery signals surfaced above the fold
- Merchandising aligned with the queries actually landing on each page
- Conversion tracked per landing page, not just site-wide
Visibility beyond the ten blue links
A growing share of research now starts and ends inside AI answers.
- Content structured for extraction as well as ranking
- Entity and brand consistency across the catalogue
- Presence tracked in AI Overviews and assistant answers
- Now visible in 1.6% of tracked SERPs as an AI Overview source
The results
Organic became the storefront's largest front door.
Over sixteen months the store earned 143,000 search clicks from 7.38 million impressions, with average position improving to 11.5 as the long tail of the catalogue came into range. Monthly organic traffic moved from roughly five thousand visits to 30.9K, and the keyword footprint grew to 3,800 ranking terms.
The split that matters most is branded versus non-branded. Non-branded search now accounts for 49.6% of organic traffic, which means roughly half of all organic visitors are people who did not know the pharmacy before that search. On the commerce side, sessions grew 467%, orders 797% and total sales 923% year on year, with conversion rate improving 62% at the same time, so the extra traffic was not diluting quality.

Key takeaways
What made
the difference.
- 1Non-branded share is the honest metric
Branded traffic flatters every report. Growing non-branded to half of all organic traffic is what proved the catalogue was reaching new customers.
- 2Indexing is a commercial problem
Unindexed category pages are closed aisles. Fixing architecture before publishing anything new is what let the rest of the work compound.
- 3Rankings and conversion belong together
Traffic grew 467% while conversion rate still improved 62%, because merchandising was aligned to the intent of each landing page.
- 4Structure earns AI citations
The same clean entities and structured content that helped classic rankings put the brand inside AI Overviews.
