Getting a clinic quoted inside Google's AI answers
Tooth Crew Clinic is a dental and orthodontic practice in Islamabad. Health queries are where AI answers arrived first and hardest, which means the practice was not only competing for a ranking, it was competing to be the source the answer is built from.
The situation at the start
Competing with directories and an AI answer.
A single clinic competing on clinical searches faces two problems at once. Directories and aggregator listings dominate the classic results, and above them Google now assembles an AI Overview that answers the question before the user ever scrolls. If the practice is not one of the sources that answer is built from, the click may never happen.
The practice had genuine clinical expertise and no structural way for a search engine, or an AI answer, to recognise it.
Semrush organic research, October 2025, with SERP verification on tracked clinical queries.
The approach
Four workstreams,
one engine.
Each stream existed to make the others measurable. Nothing here was run in isolation.
Expertise made machine-readable
Health content is held to a higher bar, so the credentials behind it have to be explicit.
- Treatment pages written to clinical depth, not brochure depth
- Practitioner credentials and review surfaced on the content
- MedicalClinic and FAQ structured data throughout
- Clear separation of informational and booking intent
One strong page per procedure
Each treatment the practice offers needed a destination that could rank on its own.
- Dedicated pages per procedure and appliance type
- Related-treatment linking that mirrors the patient journey
- Comparison content for the choices patients weigh up
- Location signals attached without diluting the clinical content
Written to be quoted
Being the source of an AI answer is a content structure problem before it is a ranking problem.
- Direct answers stated up front, before the supporting detail
- Question-shaped headings matching real patient phrasing
- Entity consistency so the practice is recognised as one organisation
- Presence monitored across AI Overviews and assistant answers
The signals patients and engines share
Local intent and clinical trust reinforce each other.
- Profile, categories and service coverage kept consistent
- Review velocity and response encouraged
- Location and treatment pages linked coherently
- Tracking split by treatment so demand could be read per procedure
The results
Ranked in the results and quoted in the answer.
The practice now holds position one for its core clinic query in the home market and ranks on page one for high-intent treatment searches such as invisible and transparent braces. Monthly organic traffic reached 1.4K, up 34.5%, with a keyword footprint of 156 terms locally and a further 202 across the United States and United Kingdom.
The more durable win is the AI citation. The clinic is now quoted as a source inside Google's AI Overview for clinical queries, which means it appears at the moment the answer is formed rather than several scrolls below it.

Key takeaways
What made
the difference.
- 1AI answers are a visibility surface, not a threat
The practices that get cited are the ones whose content states the answer plainly and proves who is behind it.
- 2Depth beats directories
A single clinic cannot outrank an aggregator on breadth, but it can comprehensively out-answer it on one procedure at a time.
- 3Credentials are ranking signals in health
Naming the practitioner and structuring the expertise is not decoration, it is what makes the content usable as a source.
- 4One page per procedure
Bundling treatments into a services page guarantees ranking for none of them.
